St. Lawrence University | SLAU is a private university located in Mengo, Rubaga Division, in central Kampala, Uganda’s largest city and capital. The university campus sits on 11 acres of land and is located near “Kabaka’s Lake”, in Mengo, close to the main Lubiri (Palace of the Kabaka of Buganda), 3 kilometres west of the central business district of Kampala.
SLAU is currently composed of five faculties • Faculty of Business Studies • Faculty of Education • Faculty of Humanities • Faculty of Computer Science & Information Technology • Faculty of Industrial Art & Design.
Academics
At St. Lawrence University | SLAU, we place a strong emphasis on business, computer training, personality modeling, and empowerment. All students must take these required course units, which are designed to help graduates be imaginative, innovative, goal-oriented, and entrepreneurial so they may be independent, adaptable, and able to respond to the frequently perplexing question, “What comes next after university?”
As a result, graduates from St. Lawrence University | SLAU are typically well-prepared and capable of creating their own jobs. The university strives to provide great teaching as well as research and services that are responsive to the needs of society. All academic programs at St. Lawrence University Uganda have a strong emphasis on research, applied problem-solving, and creative thinking; learning takes place in a setting that fosters close interpersonal relationships.
Over 1000 students are currently enrolled, and of them, 80% either commute from home or stay in local hostels, with the remaining students residing in the university’s dorms. Additionally, the university welcomes students from Europe and the USA for fieldwork and research. The university offers a well-stocked library, a contemporary computer network with dependable internet access, athletic facilities, and roomy lecture halls. Soon, the University will offer banking services and health care services.
